Call for abstract

As with previous symposia, a variety of topics will be addressed, including the main areas relating to production chemistry that of inorganic scale, organic deposits (wax and asphaltenes), hydrates, corrosion, souring and phase separation and other flow assurance/ production chemistry aspects.

Furthermore, we welcome abstracts about unconventional, environmental aspects and other disciplines related to oilfield chemistry.

Our goal is to present a good variety of papers that will broaden our knowledge base, including the state-of-the art technology in the wide aspect of production chemistry. Our overall aim to improve operational efficiency by enabling more effective mitigation and control of the wide variety of production chemistry challenges which continue to face our industry and will continue to require innovative solutions in the years and decades to come.

The topics
The program committee welcome abstracts for both oral and poster presentations, where the following list with relevant topics is suggested, but i

·         Analysis and methods

·         Separation and sand/fines management

·         Hydrates

·         Wax, Asphaltenes and Naphthenates

·         Chemical well interventions / stimulation

·         Mercury challenges and removal

·         Corrosion/MIC

·         Inorganic scale

·         Reservoir souring and H2S

·         Chemical EOR

·         Chemical management, qualification and HSE

·         Cross learnings from other industries

·         Environmental aspects

·         Sustainability in production chemistry

·         Downstream effects of chemical usage

·         Case studies and operational experiences

·         Chemistry related to the energy transition

*         CCUS, Geothermal and Hydrogen

NB! Topics, listed above, is not limited to those, others will also be reviewed.

Best paper award
In light of the loss of our cherished founder of the symposium, Professor Terje Østvold, the committee select one speaker/paper to receive the Terje Østvold Memory Award. The criteria for the award is: innovative approach to scientific and technically oriented work.

Abstract guidelines
In order to select and accept the abstract, the committee is dependent on an abstract containing the purpose of the work, results, the novelty and a conclusion on what will be presented in the presentation/paper.

All accepted papers for oral presentations must deliver a written manuscript, deadline is 7th March 2025.

An abstract should include:

· Maximum 500 words.

· Short intro of the work.

· Define the content (project experience, Lab work, field experience, case history

· What is new (a method, upgraded available technology or new technology

· Keep content technical and focused commercial content is of no interest.

· Include a paragraph of conclusion - what will be presented.

· Corresponding authors contact detail and name of co-authors.

Submit your abstract here or send in word format to [email protected].

Key dates
Abstract submission: 1st November 2024
Paper acceptance: 15th December 2024
Paper submission: 7th March 2025.

Paper alternates and posters
The number of accepted oral presentations papers is limited to 23 papers and 8 posters.

Paper alternate
Paper would also be reviewed as “paper alternates”. These will be back-up paper and will be included in the program in case of any cancellation of paper. If one accepts the status as Paper Alternate, one need to deliver a paper. Paper alternates will also be given the opportunity to present the work in the poster session if not included as a full oral presentation.

In case the paper will be on for a full oral presentation, which might be on short notice, the poster opportunity is redundant.

It is required that Paper Alternates should deliver a paper by the deadline 7th March 2025 and will then be a part of the conference proceedings.

Posters
The accepted posters will have the opportunity to be presented in the dedicated Poster Session, 3-5 minutes pitches, followed by a poster display session with discussions between the author and the delegates.

Public access
Petroleum Abstracts is a worldwide known digital register for technical abstracts and papers related to the oil and gas industry. And is organised by the Petroleum Abstracts (University of Tulsa, USA) All abstract and papers will be listed here after the conference.
