Call for Abstract
As the Chair of the 2027 Program Committee, I would like to invite you to submit abstracts and contribute your insights and expertise to the Tekna Production Chemistry Symposium in March 2027.
The objective is to build on the success of the previous symposia by highlighting a diverse and innovative program which will encompass all aspects of production chemistry and cover a mixture of theoretical modelling, fundamental research, practical laboratory and case studies. The program will present a variety of papers and posters to enhance learning and knowledge transfer, encourage forward thinking and provide innovative solutions and practical knowledge to efficiently mitigate and control production chemistry challenges across the energy industry.
To foster a comprehensive technical program, we invite abstract submissions from across the industry lifecycle including operators & asset owners, service companies & technology providers, chemical vendors & formulation experts, universities (including both Academic Researchers and Students), consultants & subject matter experts, third-party testing laboratories and equipment suppliers & manufacturers.
We welcome abstracts for both oral and poster presentations within the following topics in production chemistry, but not limited to:
- Fundamental research - Theoretical modelling, laboratory and case studies
- Flow assurance – Scale, hydrates, wax, asphaltenes and schmoo (black sticky stuff)
- Integrity management – Corrosion, microbiology, reservoir souring and H2S
- Separation management - Demulsification, water clarification, solids, foams, naphthenates and soaps
- Production enhancement – Flow improvers, chemical EOR, tracers, water injection and chemical well intervention/stimulation
- Handling of trace components – Mercury (Hg) and Arsenic (As)
- Chemical management, qualification, deployment and HSE
- Case studies and operation experiences
- Monitoring – Chemical analysis and other methods
- Chemistry related to the energy transition (CCUS, Geothermal, Hydrogen)
- Unconventional production
- Environmental and Sustainability
- Downstream effects of chemical use
- Chemical challenges in cooling, heating, MEG regeneration and gas treatment systems
- Learnings from other industries and interdisciplinary and holistic approaches
Join us in shaping the future of production chemistry – submit your abstract and be part of creating the 2027 forum.
Best paper award
In light of the loss of the cherished founder of the symposium, Professor Terje Østvold, the committee select one speaker/paper to receive the Terje Østvold Memory Award. The criteria for the award is: innovative approach to scientific and technically oriented work.
Abstract guidelines
In order to select and accept the abstract, the committee is dependent on an abstract containing the purpose of the work, results, novelty and a conclusion on what actually will be presented.
All accepted papers for oral presentations must deliver a written paper, deadline is March 1st 2027
An abstract should include:
- Maximum 500 words.
- Short intro of work.
- Define the content (project experience, Lab work, field experience, case history
- What is new (a method, upgraded available technology or new technology
- Keeping content technical and focused, commercial content iwill not be accepted.
- Include a paragraph of conclusions - what will be presented.
- Corresponding authors contact details and name of co-authors.
Submit your abstract here or send in word format to [email protected]
Key dates
Abstract submission: 15th October 2026.
Paper acceptance: 1st December 2026.
Paper submission: 1st March 2027.
Paper alternates and posters
The number of accepted oral presentations papers is limited to 23 papers and 8 posters
Paper alternate
Paper would also be reviewed as “paper alternates”. These will be back-up papers and will optional be up for oral presentation in case of any paper cancellations.
The status of Paper Alternate, will require to deliver a full paper. Deadline is 1st March.
Paper alternates will also be given the opportunity to present the work in the poster session if not included as a full oral presentation.
In case the paper will be on for a full oral presentation, which might be on short notice, the poster opportunity is redundant.
Posters
The accepted posters will have the opportunity to be presented in the dedicated Poster Session, 3-5 minutes pitches, followed by a poster display session with discussions between the author and the delegates.
