All wells need to be plugged and abandoned, which includes decommissioning, at the end of their lifetime.
Currently this is very expensive technology, often as costly as drilling of wells itself. Operations require special competence, with high focus on HSE, regulatory requirements and efficient execution strategy.
We introduce current technology trends in plugging and abandonment (P & A) of wells, research being done in Norway, needs of the operators and companies who are experts in performing plugging and abandonment. We will also explore sustainability in design and usage of digitalization and AI.
The Programme
- Scientific understanding of permanent well barriers and improvement of well barrier design methodologies
Harald Linga, Ph.D, SWIPA; SINTEF Industry - P&A Future Markets and Trends, Sustainability, digitalization, and autonomous operation
Mohamed Rottab, Sustainability manager at Halliburton - P&A of wells
Martin Knut Straume, Aker BP - Equinor's current plan for Plugging and Abandonment of oil/gas wells; including a high level introduction to the ongoing efforts to reduce time and cost
