The amazing truth about artificial intelligence
Morten Goodwin talks about AI. We've also got FREE pizza!

Join us for a fun and interesting evening with Tekna! We've got free pizza, a killer lecture and access to the bar. All Tekna-members at UiA, both students and employees are welcome.
The event happens at Bluebox right outside the UiA main entrance. We start with some pizza at about 18.00. Morten Goodwin takes the stage at about 18.30.
The amazing truth about AI
The artificial intelligence hype has gone through the roof. It seems as if we are just about to make sentient algorithms almost like Terminator-type of robots. The truth is much more amazing. Artificial intelligence is a series of tools that learn from data. These tools can make decisions just as well and sometimes better than us humans. To get artificial intelligence, a lot of data is needed - and then we have to share.
Did you know that artificial intelligence programs are already capable of guessing what you are going to do before you make the decision, write calls, and reduce power consumption? Not investing in artificial intelligence now is like not betting on computers in the 80s, or the Internet in the 90s. But, to create outstanding artificial intelligence, we must share both data, experience, and expertise. Without sharing, there will be no intelligence.
Morten Goodwin works as an associate professor at the department of ICT at the University of Agder. He is also the deputy director at CAIR (Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research)
