Intro: Tekna Ung: Honey Tasting

Would you like to learn how to taste and describe honey? Time to explore the rich diversity of honey with us!
Tekna Ung invites you to a digital honey tasting workshop in Tromsø, with tasting samples sent from ByBi.
This will include:
- an introduction to what honey is and why it tastes so differently
- a guided tasting workshop, where we learn the technique and how to evaluate flavours
- a discussion around how to connect our impressions to words. We will use sensory forms to help us with this task.
Honey tasting is much like tasting wine, cheese, or coffee, where the flavour connects to the terroir, the unique character of the landscape where it comes from. By exploring these flavours, we gain a deeper understanding of Norwegian nature and how it’s captured in a single jar of honey.
Practical information:
This event will take place at Linken at Forskningsparken The workshop will allow you to focus on your impressions first, and then discuss internally, before revealing the samples in the plenary.
The course instructor is Idil Akdos, a sertified beekeeper and professional leader in ByBi. ByBi is Oslo's urban beekeepers' association, established in 2012. They are a small-scale honey producer with local honeys from different parts of Oslo, as well as an environmental organization with a focus on biodiversity.
