This course looks at intercultural communication and how culture impacts on business relationships while helping improve your English in an evening of reflection and discussion.

The course aims to increase your skills in the following areas:

  • Speaking English correctly in a professional context
  • Increasing vocabulary
  • Developing consciousness and reflection regarding cultural differences and issues
  • Developing a sense of humility when attempting to understand other cultures
  • Learning a selection of intercultural terms and how they apply in a work situation
  • Displaying sensitivity, insight, balanced judgement, professionalism

The language of instruction in this course is English, and oral practice is encouraged through working in pairs and participating in group discussions.

A light meal is served from 16:30.

    Tekna – The Norwegian Society of Graduate Technical and Scientific Professionals


    Karin is currently the Tekna District Office Manager for the Agder region in southern Norway. A US citizen, she has several years of experience teaching various English subjects in both the public and private sector as well as providing proofreading and translating services. Her courses include a great deal of student activity and participation, a combination that produces both a high degree of learning and – most importantly – increased levels of self-confidence among students with regard to their own performance when speaking and/or writing English.
