Have you heard the name Alexander Kielland, seen his statue on the market place in Stavanger and noticed that there is a Kielland-anniversary going on this year? Join our City Walk and learn more about this prominent Stavanger citizen and about Stavanger during his lifetime.
This year marks the 175 year anniversary of Alexander Kielland's birth. During his life he was a lawyer, a businessman, a newspaper editor and, for a short period, Mayor of Stavanger. However, he is best known as a writer and social critic, who often used his hometown Stavanger in his stories, and who is considered one of the four great writers in Norwegian literary history.
We invite you to a ca. 2 hour guided walk through Alexander Kielland's life and birthplace.
We meet our guide at the Stavanger Cathedral in central Stavanger.
