Tekna's community grants scheme
Do you have a local project you're passionate about and need funding for? Then apply for a community grant.
Tekna's community grants support our members' local initiatives and help raise Tekna's profile in the wider community.
Each year, Tekna awards NOK 4 million in grants that its branches and groups can apply for. This gives every Tekna branch, professional network, student group, Tekna group and association a unique opportunity to build engagement among members — and, not least, to make Tekna's role in society visible.
Projects must meet several of the following criteria:
- demonstrate the importance of technology and science to society, through activities for members and local partners
- help raise Tekna's profile as a voice in public debate
- launch or encourage STEM activities, or stimulate interest in STEM subjects
- demonstrate the value of Tekna as a trade union and the importance of an organised workforce
- contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
How to apply
Grants are awarded in two rounds, with application deadlines of 15 October 2026 and 15 April 2027. You will find the application form in Teams for elected representatives, where you also submit a brief report on how the activity went.
Selection and applications:
Applications are assessed by a panel made up of two representatives from the Professional Development Committee and two from the Local Branch Committee, with support from the General Secretariat. The panel makes its recommendation to the Executive Board, which decides how the funds are allocated.
What needs to be in place when you apply?
- Use Tekna's application form.
- Tell us what you are planning, when and how it will be carried out, and how it will be funded.
- We require part-funding for the activity you are applying for. Applicants seeking full funding will not be prioritised.
Once the activity has taken place, we would like to hear how it went. To keep things simple, we have created a template for this. It should be sent to Tekna by 15 December of the year the grant is awarded. Unspent grant funding cannot be carried over between years and must be accounted for within the year of award.
Are you a union representative in a Tekna group?
If you do not have access to the Teams workspace for union representatives, send an email to [email protected] and we will give you the access you need to the application portal.
