This FAQ is designed to provide participants with key information and practical tips, based on lessons learned from the previous edition held in Bodø. Please read carefully.
Reimbursement Policy
- Only transportation and accommodation costs are eligible for reimbursement.
- Costs such as food, drinks, or other personal expenses are not covered.
- It is mandatory to keep all receipts related to transport and accommodation.
- You must complete the reimbursement form, sign it, and send it along with the original receipts.
- The amount on the reimbursement form must exactly match the total of the documented expenses.
Application Guidelines
- When filling in your application, please indicate your nationality as stated on your passport.
- Do not list the country where you currently reside unless it is the same as your nationality.
Workshops & Team Formation
- The initial workshops will provide important administrative and organisational information.
- A key workshop a few weeks before the hackathon will:

- Facilitate team formation.

- Share more detailed information about the event topics.

- Encourage early communication and brainstorming within your team.
Team Composition & Roles
- Each team will include both technical profiles (e.g., software, data science, design) and business profiles (e.g., strategy, pitching, outreach).
- This balance is intentional: a strong product must also be commercially viable.
- Every participant is expected to contribute within their own area of expertise, while trusting team members in other domains.
Project Evaluation Criteria
Projects will be evaluated by a panel of experts based on the following criteria:
- Innovation & Functionality of the Software Prototype – 30%
- Feasibility of the Business/Commercial Model – 30%
- Relevance for Andøya or Arctic Use Cases – 20%
- Teamwork & Presentation – 20%
Language
- The main language of the event is English. All workshops, team work, and presentations will be conducted in English.
Prizes & Awards
- Information about prizes and awards will be shared closer to the event date. Stay tuned!
Participant Confirmation
- Selected participants will be notified before the final workshop takes place.
Mentor & Expert Access
- You will be able to interact with mentors and experts during the event.
- There will be no early contact with mentors.
- Pre-event questions can be addressed during the organised workshops.
Agenda & Updates
- The event agenda may change up to the last day.
- Please check the official event website regularly, and at a minimum, once before your departure.
Travel & Weather Preparation
- Andøya is located north of the Arctic Circle. October can bring cold, windy, and wet conditions.
- Bring appropriate clothing: rain gear, windproof jackets, and warm layers are essential.
