Walid Labaky

ProcessTechnologies & Solutions Concept Solutions Engineering Manager

Schlumberger Global

Dr Labaky is the Global Concept Solutions Engineering Manager for Produced Water at SLB. His experience spans over 30 years, covering both surface and subsurface water management.

Dr Labaky’s interests are centered on the treatment and reuse of Produced Water in Oil & Gas applications, with the aim of enhancing hydrocarbon recovery in a more sustainable manner. His solutions are designed to reduce dependency on fresh water supply and the associated transportation requirements from and to production sites. This in turn translates into lower carbon emissions and lower operational costs. He has successfully managed projects across North & South America, Australia, Asia and the Middle East.

He holds a PhD in Hydrogeology from the University of Waterloo, Canada and is a registered Professional Geoscientist in the Province of Ontario.

TÜV SÜD

Dr Ming Yang is a Principal Consultant at TUV SUD National Engineering Laboratory (NEL). He has over 34 years of work experience in the Oil & Gas industry. He is well known for his expertise on the subjects of oil in water measurement and produced water management.

He joined NEL in 1998, before that, he worked at Heriot-Watt University between 1991 and 1995 and University of Manchester between 1995 and 1997.

Bahar Forouzeshrad

PhD Candidate

NTNU

Bahar is a PhD candidate at NTNU, where she explores crude oil separation from produced water under subsea high-temperature, high-pressure (HTHP) conditions using flocculant-assisted gas flotation. Her research focuses on understanding how a broad range of fluid properties influences the removal efficiency of crude oil droplets and solid particles during HTHP flotation. She began working with industrial wastewater treatment in 2017 during her MSc, gaining experience with membrane filtration, flotation, coagulation and flocculation, electrochemical processes, and adsorption. She is currently a member of the SUBPRO-Zero research group.
